With a vision to spread the message of greatness of Punjab, The Great Run of Punjab would start from the Holy City of Amritsar, passing through the rich Punjabi heritage, crossing the sarson clad fields would end at the majestic Sukhna Lake of Chandigarh covering a distance of 200 km in 3 days. To give this opportunity of experiencing Punjab to all runners, we have various distance options of Daylight Runs which runners can choose from.

Multi-City Races Categories – Roar The Roads

 

200 KM Sher-e-Punjab: Come out of masses, Stand Out Stand Alone: Be the Lion!

Let the Ultraholic lion in you roar the roads! This race category is for the lions, who are not afraid to go beyond limits. The run starts at Amritsar and ends in Chandigarh, covering a whooping 200 KM distance in 3 days. With this run, the runner runs minimum an Ultra distance (>50 KM) every day for 2 days! The route is mostly flat road, covering the major places to see of Punjab on the way giving an experience of Punjabi delicacies of each city a runner passes from.

 

 

Start time: 23rd  November 6 AM, Amritsar and concludes at Chandigarh on 25th November 2018
Cut off time every day: 12 hrs from 6:00 AM to 6:00 PM
Min distance to cover in a day: 60 KM
Max distance to cover in a day: 80 KM
Participation Criteria: The participant must have finished 2 full Marathons and 2 Ultra Runs
Age Criteria: 18 & Above

Flow of the Race: The Race starts every day at 6:00 AM and ends at 6:00 PM. The corresponding distance covered and run time taken will be manually noted at Timing Stations.

*All refreshments, meals, hydration, medical support and night stay on twin sharing basis is included.

 

80 KM Junoon-e-Punjab: Let the Passion overrule..!

The answer to your passion for cross-city Ultra run is here. Covering 3 cities in one single day, that is what we call an experience to remember for a lifetime! Every such experience deserves a celebration so yes we would celebrate ultra experience with a cultural gala in evening where you enjoy sumptuous Punjabi cuisine and listen to traditional folk songs by local artist who are still found in the narrow lanes of sarson fields.

50 KM Shaan-e-Punjab: For the Iron Willed

With Punjabi dhol and enthusiasm at the start line, Shaan-e-Punjab 50 k invites you on a journey along side Beas river ending in the city named after the river itself. The runners would be greeted with a lunch and given an option to stay for evening gala dinner.

Start time: 23rd November 6:00 AM, Amritsar
Cut off time every day: 8 hrs 6:00 AM – 2:00 PM
Participation Criteria: The participant must have finished 2 Half Marathons and 1 Full Marathon.
Age Criteria: 18 & Above
Flow of the Race: The Race would start from Amritsar and will conclude at 50Km mark where lunch will be served to all participants, run time taken will be manually noted at Timing Stations

30 KM Multi-City Barrier Breaker (Ropar to Chandigarh) 25th Nov 2018

Multi-city Barrier Breaker 30 KM run a golden opportunity to break the barrier of a half marathon and one step closer to Full marathon and Ultras. An opportunity to do 30 Kms Run through fields crossing multiple cities. Flat track and pleasant weather awaits you for a unique experience!

Start time: 25th November 6:00 AM, Ropar (Nearby)
Cut off time: 5 hrs 6:00 AM – 11:00 AM
Participation Criteria: The participant must have finished 2 Half Marathons and 1 Full Marathon.
Age Criteria: 18 & Above
Flow of the Race: The Race would start nearby Ropar with and end at 30 K Point near Chandigarh where lunch will be served to all participants, run time taken will be manually noted at the timing stations.

 

More Information:

  • Hydration support would be available after every 5 KM (Details to be published later).
  • Timing stations would be available en route.
  • There would be a cultural evening on 23rd November at the finish station of 80 KM and a closing ceremony on 25th November in Chandigarh.
  • In any race category running time of the runner would be noted and factored in for positions

Participation Criteria: The participant must be 18 yrs or above and done at least 1 Half Marathon.

 

10 KM – Amritsar Express

Timed Chip competitive 10 KM race for age >15 yrs. Experience the high of running and push your limits with a 10 KM run on a flat track around heritage of Amritsar, opportunity for a personal best timing in your Kitty!

Participation Criteria: The participant must be above 15 yrs of age.

 

3 KM – Kidsathon

Kids only (5-15 yrs),Timed Chip Competitive Race. Vision of this race is to motivate kids to give up on gadget culture and get on the roads and run. Attractive prizes for the Winners!

Participation Criteria: The participant must be above 5 yrs and below 15 yrs as on the date of the event.

 

3 KM – Health Run/Walk of Amritsar 

Only athletes participate in a marathon? No, We have opportunity for people of all age groups to experience a running event by walking 1 km with your family and friends. Non-Competitive and non-timed run, enjoy the beautiful surroundings and pleasant weather of Amritsar

Terms and Conditions

  1. All communication will be sent to the email id which you have registered with us.
  2. A participant or representative can collect their Running number BIB a day before the event, details of which will be shared in the email.
  3. While picking up the Running number BIB Participants or Representative must carry with him/her the email confirmation sent by us to the participant .As we practice GO GREEN policy you can show the confirmation on mobile.
  4. The right to participant in the event and the rights and benefits available to the applicant under with this registration form is at the sole discretion of the event promoters , The Great Run of Punjab, and cannot be transferred to any other person under any circumstances.
  5. The city police department reserves the right to cancel permission for the event at any time. In such a situation, or in case the event date or location is changed due to political rally, natural disaster or any other event outside the control of the organizers , the organizers will hold the event at the next available and convenient date. In such a case there will be no refund of registration fees.
  6. Your entry and Running number bib and / or bib tag is not transferable to any other person under any circumstance.
  7. Running number BIBs will be distributed only at the Great Run Of Punjab Bib Expo date, time and venue will be informed accordingly. No Participant will be allowed inside the holding area without their running number BIB. No Running number BIBs will be distributed on the main race day.
  8. Organizers reserve the right to stop any participating who is found medically unfit to continue in the opinion of the medical personnel.
  9. The Great Run Of Punjab reserves the right to ask for any documentation that may be required for verification and confirmation of the participant at any point in time.
  10. The Great Run Of Punjab reserves the right to disqualify if discrepancy being found in the application / documents or in the performance, at any point in time.

Guidelines

Guidelines for Ultra Race Categories (50k, 80k and 200k)

  1. The Great Run of Punjab is a semi-supported race for 200km, 80km and 50km categories – A racer must carry enough food and water to last between aid-stations, which are anywhere between 5kms and 15kms apart. One must come equipped with night gear such as headlamp and reflective vest a hydration pack, safety gear such as a whistle, a charged cell phone.
  2. The Great Run of Punjab is a multicity, race over 3 days for 200km categories: One must follow the route map shared in due course of time post registration. In the event of the racer not being able to locate the route, they must remain in the current location and seek help from the route marshals, other participants of the race or call the organizers on the numbers provided in the race kit
  3. A racer must be aware of their surroundings at all times and in the event a racer is unable to safely proceed further and complete the race, the racer must withdraw from the race for their own safety.
  4. There would be breaks for breakfast (45 mins), lunch (1 hr) and evening tea (30 mins), the time of which would be calculated in the race time.
  5. Organizers provide medical assistance in the form of ambulances and also have physiotherapists on hand. In case a racer is in doubt of their medical condition or is known to be hallucinating, they must seek medical help from the medical team on the route and/or withdraw from the race if their condition worsens after medical attention is provided and the racer rests adequately.
  6. Time allotted for 200 km every day would be 6 am to 6 pm. The run will be halted at this time and the runners would be taken to the rest point. No runner will be allowed to run beyond this time.
  7. All the runners would be allotted the cut off time as per their categories, beyond that time the runners would not be allowed to run to finish the distance if case may be.
  8. In case a runner has to stop or wait due to any reason during the race, the time allotted would not be adjusted. Real time difficulties are a part of ultra racing experience.

Guidelines for Race for Run-e-Amritsar

  1. Collect your running kit few days from the venue details that will be shared in the email provided by you.
  2. Wearing running bib is mandatory during the race. No participant will be allowed to enter the venue without the running bib. A running bib should be attached on the front of the tee shirt with the help of safety pins.
  3. Reach the venue at least 30 mins before the start time of your race.
  4. Keep sipping water throughout the race.
  5. Do not rush, run at your own speed. No pushing around allowed.
  6. Look out for volunteers on the route for any difficult. Follow the route markings and seek volunteer help if required.
  7. Timing mat is placed on the route which captures individual race timing through timing chip attached to the bib. Timing chip is mandatory only for competitive categories, Amritsar Express 10 km and 3 km Kidsathon. Timing chip is mandatory if you want your official timings and ranks. All you need to do is step on the mat for the timing to be recorded. In case you don’t step on any of the mat, your timing will not be recorded.
  8. Collect your medal and refreshments post the race.
  9. Smile for the cameras at the finish line.
